History
The BEMC was formed in 1998 when mastermind Josh Moline of i.s.o.t.t. realized that electronic musicians in Bloomington were in sore need of representation, drowned out as they were by the preponderance of local rock and indie bands. The call went out, and over half a dozen participants were gathered to chip in their songs and funds to help produce a DIY compilation. Meetings were held at various IU campus buildings and members' homes; tracks were collected; discs were manufactured; and a release concert of participating artists was held at the Cheshire Cafe on campus.
Two years later, BEMC alumni George Patrick and Jeremy Lindemann collaborated to produce a sequel to v1, gathering together veterans of the first comp such as drxl as well as new faces-- over a dozen in all. BEMC v2 featured professional mastering, expanded distribution, commemorative t-shirts, and a obligatory release concert at the Cheshire Cafe.

"Surely Bloomington wasn't all guitar rock? ...overall the disc is strong and is the only record of electronic music in our scene's long history."
